Singapore Fintech Festival returns this year to bring together fintech players, policy makers, financial industry leaders, venture capitalists, investors, tech entrepreneurs and academics for a week-long event dedicated to fintech and digital finance.
The second edition of the Singapore Fintech Festival, organized by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in partnership with the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and in collaboration with SingEx Holdings, will be held in the city-state from November 13 to 17, 2017, and will build on the success of the inaugural festival in November 2016 which drew more than 13,000 participants from across 60 countries.
13’000 Participants from 60 countries
“The Singapore Fintech Festival is an excellent platform for key stakeholders of the global and regional fintech community to connect, learn from one another, and co-create new solutions to real problems,” said Sopnendu Mohanty, the chief fintech officer of MAS.
“Last year’s festival was a great start. This year’s festival will be brighter, bigger, better.”
Singapore Fintech Festival 2017 will introduce the Investor Summit or “Deal Day” in the program line-up, an event aimed at facilitating fintech investment deals. The Investor Summit will showcase promising, investment-worthy Singaporean startups and disruptive technologies to the local and international investor community.
This year again, the festival will feature the Global Fintech Hackcelerator, the Fintech Awards and the Fintech Conference.
The Global Fintech Hackcelerator is a program aimed at identifying the top 20 most exciting and innovative startups from all over the world to address 100 problem statements gathered from the financial industry. The problem statements fall under four categories: customer-facing, financial inclusion, regtech and general.
Among more than 580 submissions from over 40 countries, MAS selected 20 startups for this year’s Global Fintech Hackcelerator program. These include Smartfolios from Singapore, MyCash Online from Malaysia, and Prive Services from Hong Kong.
Hackcelerator KPMG Digital Village
These will undergo a 12-week program, led by KPMG Digital Village, during which they will work and meet with corporates, investors, partners and regulators. The teams will present a working prototype of their solutions at Demo Day.
The Fintech Awards, comprising the MAS Fintech Awards and ABS, will recognize innovative fintech solutions that have been implemented by startups, financial institutions, and tech companies. 30 finalists were shortlisted by a panel of experts from 309.
Fintech Singapore Awards
Up to ten winners will be selected by the panel and announced at the Fintech Awards Night on November 16, 2017, alongside the winners of the Global Fintech Hackcelerator program.
“When we first conceived of the Global Fintech Hackcelerator and the Fintech Awards in 2016, our goal was to encourage innovation in Singapore,” said Mohanty.
“One year on, we are pleased to see an improvement in the quality and variety of submissions for both the Global Fintech Hackcelerator and the Fintech Awards. The sustained interest in these initiatives reflects the growth and evolution of the Singapore Fintech ecosystem.”
For the Fintech Conference, MAS will combine the agendas of the Regtech Forum, the Tech Risk Conference and the Fintech Conference into a multi-track conference spanning three days to be held in the Singapore Expo.
The conference will cover topics such as data analytics, tech risk and cybersecurity, regtech, fintech application and fintech financing. It will look at fintech developments across developed and emerging markets, as well as how technology can be used to improve financial inclusion and support growth in emerging economics.

Speakers will include representatives from MAS, the MIT Media Labs, Ping An Group, Ant Financial, Dianrong, Microsoft, Go-Jek, Intel, JP Morgan, IBM, Deloitte, KPMG, PayPal, and more.
