What’s all the buzz around central bank digital currency (CBDC)? Is crypto something from the past, present or future? Should banks be afraid of a world of decentralized money?
This, and a lot more questions, will be part of the agenda of The Banking Scene Afterwork’s July 23 event.
Guests will get to hear from Julian Sawyer, managing director for Europe at Gemini, the New York regulated crypto exchange and digital asset custodian. Sawyer is the former COO and co-founder of Starling Bank where he was responsible for running customer services, AML & Fraud, Payment Operations, HR and Supplier Management. He also held P&L responsibility for the B2B business, Starling Banking Services.
Prior to Starling, he worked as a management consultant at Accenture and EY and setup and ran his own financial services consultancy, Bluerock, for 13 years before selling it.
Sawyer is an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow at CASS University in the Faculty of Management and a member of the Emerging Payments Association Advisory Board. He is also an Advisor at Volt Bank Limited, a leading Australian challenger bank.
