Description
We are a Japanese fintech startup located in Phnom Penh and seeking a skilled Legal Compliance Manager to ensure our organization adheres to all relevant financial regulations, technology laws, and internal policies. The ideal candidate is someone who has bar admission and a strong background in fintech and financial industry compliance.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures specific to fintech operations
- Monitor and analyze regulatory changes in financial services, digital banking, and data protection
- Conduct risk assessments focusing on areas such as AML, KYC, data privacy, and cybersecurity
- Prepare and review compliance policies in line with evolving fintech regulations and financial industry standards
- Ensure compliance policies are up-to-date and accessible in relevant languages
- Provide specialized compliance training on fintech-related topics to employees
- Manage investigations into potential violations of financial regulations or data protection laws
- Evaluate and improve control systems to prevent fraud, money laundering, and other financial crimes
- Assess new fintech products and services for potential compliance risks
- Liaise with financial regulatory bodies, external auditors, and technology partners
- Advise management on compliance matters related to digital financial services and emerging technologies
- Prepare reports on fintech-specific challenges
- Review product development and marketing materials for regulatory compliance
- Stay informed about emerging fintech trends and their regulatory implications
Qualifications
- Bar admission in Cambodia strongly preferred
- 5+ years of experience in legal compliance, preferably in fintech or financial services
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, data protection laws, and fintech-specific compliance issues
- Strong understanding of digital banking, payment systems, and emerging financial technologies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in applying regulations to innovative fintech solutions
- Outstanding communication abilities to explain complex compliance issues to both technical and non-technical staff
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment
- Adaptability and willingness to learn about new technologies and their regulatory implications
