Payment Director at Wing will define and own the bank’s digital payments strategy, roadmap, and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Define and own the bank’s digital payments strategy, roadmap, and execution.
  • Align payments initiatives with the bank’s digital transformation and commercial goals
  • Act as the senior payments subject-matter expert for executive leadership
  • Oversee design and evolution of payment platforms including Domestic transfers, real-time payments / instant payments, Internal & Cross border QR payments, and alternative payment methods
  • Manage partnerships with payment networks, switches, fintechs, and vendors for payments
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture, and vendors to ensure:
  • High availability, scalability, and security of payment systems
  • Seamless integration with core banking and digital channels
  • Own delivery of major payment programs and system upgrades.
  • Ensure full compliance with payments for:
  • Central bank and regulatory requirements
  • AML/CFT, fraud prevention, and data protection policies
  • Establish strong controls, monitoring, and incident management frameworks.
  • Improve payment journeys across mobile, web, and corporate channels.
  • Drive real-time, frictionless, and reliable payment experiences.
  • Build and lead high-performing payments teams.
  • Collaborate across Product, IT, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Product teams.
  • Represent the bank with regulators, payment schemes, and external partners.
Key Skills & Competencies

Technical & Domain Expertise

  • Deep understanding of:
  • Payment rails and clearing systems
  • Digital wallets, QR, and real-time payment systems
  • Strong grasp of banking technology architectures and APIs.
  • Experience working with vendors, switches, and fintech partners.
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex payment programs.
  • Strong decision-making under regulatory and operational constraints.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and executive presence.

Strategic & Commercial Thinking

  • Ability to balance innovation with risk and regulatory realities.
  • Experience driving revenue, efficiency, and cost optimization in payments.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Finance, or related field, and master's degree is a plus.
  • 12+ years of experience in payments, digital banking, fintech, or relevant financial services.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing payment platforms or products.
  • Experience in a digital bank, fintech, or technology-led transformation preferred.
