The Product Owner for Payment Gateway & E-Wallet is responsible for shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of our payment processing and digital wallet solutions. This role requires a deep understanding of payment ecosystems, e-wallets, and fintech to deliver seamless, secure, and scalable products that meet both user and business needs.
1. Product Strategy & Roadmap:
• Define and maintain the product vision and strategy for the combined payment gateway and e-wallet platform.
• Develop a detailed product roadmap aligned with company objectives, focusing on delivering innovative, secure, and user-friendly payment solutions.
• Prioritize features, enhancements, and improvements based on business value, customer needs, and market trends.
2.Customer & Market Insight:
• Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends in digital payments, emerging technologies, and user preferences (e.g., BNPL, tokenization, NFC payments).
• Work closely with key stakeholders (merchants, consumers, internal teams) to gather insights and translate them into product features.
• Analyze customer feedback and transactional data to identify pain points and opportunities for innovation.
3.Cross-functional Collaboration:
• Collaborate with engineering, UX/UI, compliance, and operations teams to ensure seamless implementation of product features.
• Work with external partners (banks, payment processors, card networks) for third-party integrations and partnerships.
• Ensure product documentation is kept up-to-date and communicate product goals, priorities, and status updates to stakeholders across the company.
4.Payment Gateway Focus:
• Oversee the development and optimization of the payment gateway, ensuring compatibility with various payment methods (credit/debit cards, bank transfers, digital wallets, QR payments).
• Manage payment gateway performance, focusing on reducing transaction failures, optimizing latency, and ensuring high success rates.
• Ensure the gateway supports multiple currencies, regions, and languages for cross-border transactions.
• Maintain compliance with relevant security and privacy standards (PCI-DSS, GDPR) and work with security teams to ensure robust fraud detection and prevention systems are in place.
5.E-Wallet Focus:
• Own the end-to-end user experience for the e-wallet product, ensuring a seamless experience across mobile and web platforms.
• Work on wallet functionalities such as user onboarding, balance management, peer-to-peer transfers, and loyalty/reward programs.
• Oversee integration with other payment platforms (banks, loyalty programs, third-party wallets) and support for digital currency storage (fiat and cryptocurrency, if applicable).
• Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (KYC, AML, e-money licensing), working closely with legal and compliance teams.
• Drive user engagement by identifying opportunities to enhance features like rewards, promotions, and gamified payment experiences.
6.Performance Metrics & Optimization:
• Define and track key product metrics, such as transaction success rates, user retention, wallet balance growth, and churn.
• Analyze payment flow and user data to continuously optimize product features and minimize operational costs (e.g., transaction fees, chargebacks).
• Use A/B testing, user behavior analysis, and feedback loops to iterate on product improvements.
7.Innovation & Scalability:
• Identify and prioritize new features, such as biometric authentication, payment tokenization, or open banking integrations.
• Lead efforts to scale the payment infrastructure to support increasing transaction volumes, new geographies, and payment methods.
• Explore partnerships with other fintech companies or third-party services (like BNPL, crypto, etc.) to expand product capabilities.
1.Experience:
• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Manager in the fintech, payments, or e-commerce sector, with hands-on experience in both payment gateways and e-wallets.
• Proven track record in managing full product lifecycles, from discovery to delivery, in agile environments.
2.Technical Expertise:
• Strong knowledge of payment processing technologies, including gateways, acquiring banks, payment schemes (Visa, MasterCard), and alternative payments (digital wallets, QR codes).
• Familiarity with API design and architecture, particularly in payments and third-party integrations.
• Experience with mobile payments, tokenization, biometric authentication, and data encryption.
3.Regulatory Knowledge:
• In-depth understanding of financial regulations, including PCI DSS, PSD2, KYC, AML, GDPR, and local e-money regulations.
• Ability to work with compliance teams to ensure all features meet legal and security standards.
4.Analytical Skills:
• Strong data-driven mindset, with experience in analyzing transaction data, customer behavior, and payment flows.
• Proficient in tools like SQL, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar for data analysis.
5.Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business terms.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and prioritization skills.
• Problem-solving aptitude with a focus on delivering customer-centric solutions.
6.Educational Background:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
• Certifications in Product Management (CSPO, AIPMM, or similar) are advantageous.
