Razer Gold has received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for a Major Payment Institution license.
This development marks a major step for the gaming-focused virtual credit platform as it prepares to expand its payment services in Singapore.
This approval positions Razer Gold to offer regulated payment services, including account issuance, domestic and cross-border money transfers, merchant acquisition, and e-money issuance.
These services aim to bolster the platform’s capabilities and cater to the growing demands of Singapore’s digital economy and gaming sector.
Razer Gold, part of the broader Razer ecosystem, continues to provide gamers with access to payment solutions across over 50,000 games and entertainment titles.
The platform allows users to purchase in-game content while earning rewards such as Razer Silver and accessing exclusive offers.
The company aims to enhance its payment systems in collaboration with MAS and industry partners.
“The licensing process has been thorough, and this in-principle approval is a testament to our team’s dedication in establishing a robust compliance framework.
We look forward to enhancing our systems and collaborating with the MAS, our partners, and the gaming community to foster a secure, reliable payment ecosystem that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”
said Adisorn Phonnarut, Global Head of Razer Gold.
