Payment giant Visa announced its commitment to supporting digital creators by recognising them as small businesses at the Web Summit in Lisbon.
This provides creators with access to Visa’s financial tools, resources, and products, including business cards, payment controls, and programmes like Practical Business Skills, previously only available to traditional small businesses.
Visa also addressed the challenge of slow payouts, a problem a recent Visa survey revealed affects over two-thirds of creators.
The company highlighted its Visa Direct service, which facilitates real-time payments through partnerships with social media networks and marketplaces.
Furthermore, Visa expanded its partnership with Pharrell Williams to support his philanthropic ventures, Black Ambition and YELLOW, providing financial literacy resources to YELLOW students.
These initiatives build upon Visa’s existing programs like ‘GetP@id’, a social series educating creators on monetising their passions, and the upcoming Visa Creator Summit in Tokyo.
Hosted with industry leaders like Amplify, the summit will offer guidance to aspiring and growing influencers navigating their businesses.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see the world finally recognizing creators as the driving force behind the digital economy.
We are proud to help creators grow their businesses – whether it’s helping creators access funding with a small working capital solution, or helping creators get paid in real-time to their debit card.”
said Jonathan Kolozsvary, Global Head of Small Business at Visa.
