MoMo is expanding the international use of its e-wallet as it adds more services for customers travelling outside Vietnam.
Its QR payment function is now available in over 60 markets, according to company information reported by VnExpress.
MoMo puts its overseas acceptance network at more than 100 million locations.
The service operates through connections with payment systems such as Napas, Alipay, WeChat Pay, PayPay and PromptPay.
Supported destinations include China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
Before completing a purchase, customers can scan an eligible merchant code and view the currency conversion rate in the app.
MoMo says it does not levy an additional fee for foreign currency transactions.
The company has also disclosed figures on its fraud monitoring systems.
It claims that artificial intelligence (AI) helps identify close to 29,000 unusual transactions every day, alongside electronic identity verification and continuous transaction monitoring.
MoMo estimates that these controls safeguard more than VND40 billion, equivalent to about US$1.5 million, in transaction value a day.
This company-provided figure has not been independently verified.
The app also offers international eSIM plans and bookings across 56 airlines.
Available carriers include AirAsia, Scoot, STARLUX Airlines and Vietnam Airlines.
