Mambu’s New AI Agents Can Act on Banking Tasks Within Set Limits

Mambu has launched Intelligent Core, its technology architecture for bringing core banking, payments and agentic AI together on one open, composable platform.

The launch combines Mambu Core and Mambu Payments with a new addition, Mambu Agentic, an intelligence layer that connects AI directly into the core.

Mambu said most banks are still layering AI onto legacy core systems. These systems weren’t built for real-time intelligence or autonomous action, a gap Intelligent Core is designed to close.

The company has spent 15 years helping financial institutions build and modernise deposits, lending and Islamic banking on its composable platform.

Intelligent Core extends that foundation with AI capabilities.

Mambu Agentic introduces three new capability layers.

Model Context Protocol support connects enterprise AI agents directly into the core and payments systems.

This gives them real-time data access without requiring complex integrations.

AI Insights provides a curated data layer meant to keep the information used for agent reasoning reliable.

It also surfaces insights on growth opportunities, risk and anomalies across portfolios.

Pre-built action agents gather data and reason against configurable guardrails.

They act within their permitted scope and explain each decision, with configurable policies and approval thresholds.

Fernando Zandona, CEO of Mambu, said the company’s 15-year composable banking approach has freed hundreds of global financial institutions from the constraints of monolithic legacy cores.

That foundation now evolves to become intelligent through Mambu Agentic. It connects AI agents directly into the ledger to reason against guardrails, act where authorised, and explain every decision.

“Every financial institution we talk to is not asking if they should adopt AI, but whether it can run safely, reliably, and deliver on its promise at scale,” Zandona said. “Today with Mambu, it can.”
