Shopee has added one-hour grocery orders and remote pharmacy consultations to its growing range of services in Thailand.
The company is expanding beyond conventional e-commerce as competition grows in the country’s on-demand market, the Bangkok Post reported.
Shopee Telepharmacy connects users with licensed pharmacists through video, voice or in-app chat.
They can seek advice on minor symptoms, medication use and medicines requiring professional guidance.
The service operates with Pharmcare and participating pharmacies. Shopee provides the platform but does not sell medicines directly.
Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration certified the service on 19 June.
Medicines other than household remedies must still be supplied by licensed pharmacies.
Shopee Extends One-Hour Delivery to Groceries
Shopee has also launched Instant Mart for groceries, fresh food and household essentials.
The company says orders can arrive within an hour with no minimum spend or delivery charge.
Partners include Big C Supercenter, Lotus’s, Tops, MaxValu Thailand and Villa Market, alongside specialist shops and local retailers.
The service initially covers Bangkok and nearby provinces, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Songkhla and Phuket. Shopee plans to expand it nationwide.
The launches put Shopee in closer competition with Grab and Line Man Wongnai.
