DBS is stepping up haze relief efforts in Singapore with a S$1 million commitment targeting seniors and migrant workers.
The initiative is expected to benefit 275,000 people, with two N95 masks allocated per person.
DBS will provide 50,000 masks and 100 air purifiers to DBS Foundation-supported social service agencies, including Allkin Singapore, Lions Befrienders and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities.
The bank is also working with these agencies to supply air purifiers to 500 homebound seniors living alone.
Another 500,000 masks will be distributed to migrant workers through selected dormitories and seven recreation centres.
DBS is working with the Ministry of Manpower and dormitory operators on distribution at the dormitories.
Distribution at the recreation centres was scheduled for 25 October.
DBS has also activated its haze response plans for employees, including N95 masks, carbon filters at its premises and flexible working arrangements for eligible staff.
Additional precautions will help reduce exposure for those working outdoors.

Lim Him Chuan, DBS Singapore Country Head, said,
“The haze affects the whole community, but some may be harder hit than others. Outdoor workers may have little choice but to remain exposed, while some seniors may find it difficult to access spaces with cleaner air.
As a bank that stands committed to doing right by our customers and society-at-large, DBS is bringing together our people, partners and resources to address these needs and help these communities to stay safe and supported.”
These measures mark the first phase of the initiative, with further support to be announced as conditions evolve.
