Google Wallet appears to be preparing support for QR code payments through Alipay+, according to a report by Android Authority.
The publication found references to an “Overseas QR payments” option in version 26.42.1003171897 of the Google Wallet app.
A “Learn more” link within the setting leads to a Google Wallet support page for a feature called Traveler QR.
According to the documentation, the option would activate automatically when a user’s phone detects that they are in a supported destination.
Google’s support page currently identifies Singapore as the only supported destination, specifically through Alipay+ partner networks.
Android Authority noted that coverage could eventually expand to Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, although Google has not confirmed support for these markets.
The proposed feature could allow Google Wallet users to make QR code payments through Alipay+ when travelling internationally.
Google has yet to formally announce Traveler QR or confirm when it might become available.
Android Authority cautioned that features discovered through app teardowns remain under development and may not necessarily reach a public release.
