Pintu, an Indonesian crypto asset trading and investment platform, announced that it has closed a Series B funding round of US$113 million (Rp. 1.6 trillion).
Investors joining the round include Intudo Ventures, Lightspeed, Northstar Group, and Pantera Capital.
Through this funding round, Pintu said that it plans to launch new features and products.
Additionally, the company will invest in the Pintu Academy educational programme to educate crypto investors. This will help them understand the risks of investing in crypto assets to carry out sustainable trading and investment practices.
To support this growth, Pintu will be aggressively recruiting for all functions including engineering, business and strategy, as well as human resources.
Launched in April 2020, Pintu has been downloaded by more than 4 million users and offers more than 50 tradable crypto assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Pintu is licensed by the Commodity Futures Trading Authority (CoFTRA) that serves retail traders or investors in Indonesia under the regulatory framework in Indonesia.
“The crypto asset market in Indonesia has shown tremendous growth over the past year, we see this positive growth driven by several factors such as clearer regulations, as well as an increase in public knowledge of crypto assets.
To make it easier for crypto users in Indonesia, we built Pintu for new crypto asset investors as well as experienced investors. We believe that the adoption of crypto assets in Indonesia is only in its early stages, and educating the public is of paramount importance to ensure this growth proceeds in a healthy way,”
said Jeth Soetoyo, Founder and CEO of PINTU.
