A London-based job posting for Web 3 Software Engineers reveals that the company’s crypto team is in the process of “building the next generation of products to facilitate commerce in everyone’s digital and mobile lives.”
Despite the regulatory uncertainty that surrounds cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and Web 3, Visa has been persistently exploring these areas.
The company boasts a dedicated team of researchers and engineers tasked with studying the foundations of various blockchain protocols, focusing on aspects such as security, scalability, interoperability, and privacy, as well as identifying potential use cases.
Visa’s previous ventures in the crypto sphere have met with mixed success. As recently as October 2022, the firm signed a global agreement with the now-defunct FTX to offer crypto-linked debit cards to customers in 40 countries.
