Visa Rolls Out Real Time Account Updater in APAC Region

by November 9, 2023

Visa announced the expansion of Real Time Visa Account Updater (VAU) to selected markets in Asia Pacific except Bangladesh, Mainland China and India. This service will provide customers with a single credential for life, streamlining the payment experience for both merchants and consumers.

With the introduction of Real Time VAU in Asia Pacific, consumers will be able to use their same Visa card information for recurring payments, even if their card expires or is replaced.

This will eliminate the need for consumers to manually update their card information with merchants, saving them time and hassle.

Merchants will also benefit from Real Time VAU, as it will help to reduce the number of declined payments due to expired or replaced cards. This will lead to increased sales and improved customer satisfaction.

Real Time VAU is being launched in Asia Pacific in partnership with four global payment gateways and acquirers namely Adyen, Checkout.com, Stripe, and Worldpay. Cybersource, a Visa solution, is also offering VAU to customers.

This will especially benefit businesses that offer subscription services, such as ride-hailing apps, merchants in the food delivery and utility space, and more.

“While card expiration and replacement are necessary as part of fraud protection and card security enhancements, we recognise that consumers often face the unnecessary inconvenience of updating numerous automatic payment arrangements every few years when issued a new card.

The launch of Real Time VAU, in collaboration with our partners in Asia Pacific, will streamline this process while continuing to uphold the highest level of security.”
