by November 14, 2023

The eighth Singapore Fintech Festival 2023 (SFF 2023) kicks off today and will run until 17 November 2023. As one of the largest fintech festivals in the world, the event is expected to attract over 60,000 attendees from over 100 countries.

SFF 2023 brings together leaders and experts from around the world in finance, technology, and public policy to delve into the theme “AI for good. AI for good?” amid projections that Generative AI could significantly increase global GDP in the next decade.

The festival aims to balance the exploration of AI’s potential with an understanding of its risks, fostering a unified vision for the future.

The festival builds on past discussions about driving low-carbon transitions, expanding financial access for underserved populations, boosting digital economic resilience, and scaling AI and Web 3.0 solutions.

What to expect from the SFF 2023 in the coming days

The event will start with the Elevandi Insights today (14 November), an invitation-only gathering of regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders. This session will include the Capital Meets Policy Dialogue and Public-Private Roundtables, focusing on AI-related investment and policy-making.

The main SFF Conference, running from 15 to 17 November, features over 800 speakers and covers topics over eight themes including Responsible Tokenisation, Beneficial AI, Accelerating ESG, Efficient Payments, Scaling Insurances and Pension, Digitising Inclusion, Advancing Talent, as well as Empowering Entrepreneurship.

Keynote speakers include Kristalina Georgieva of the IMF, Ajay Banga of the World Bank, and Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore.

The SFF Exhibition will showcase nearly 700 exhibitors and international pavilions across five thematic zones – Technology, ESG, Founders, Regulation and Talent.

Meanwhile, the Innovation Lab Crawl will take place from 14 to 17 November with 25 participating organisations, offering insights into the latest fintech innovations.

The SFF 2023 will also feature educational Certificate Programmes in partnership with top Singaporean universities. These courses include upskilling opportunities on ChatGPT and AI in Finance with the Asian Institute of Digital Finance, National University of Singapore, and Green and Sustainable Finance 101 with SMU Academy, Singapore Management University

A new highlight is the launch of The Big Spark, a TV show focusing on Southeast Asian startups. Throughout the series, pre-seed to Series-A startups will gain real-world business advice from industry mentors and experts as they pitch to seasoned investors who have committed to invest more than S$1 million in these emerging enterprises. The eight-episode series, produced by Mediacorp in partnership with SFF and TiE Global Summit, will air on Channel News Asia in 2024.

The festival is organised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Elevandi, and Constellar, along with The Association of Banks in Singapore.
