Serene Sia Takes Helm as Singapore Country Director at Google Cloud Amid Its AI Push

Google Cloud has appointed Serene Sia as the new Country Director for its Singapore operations. Sia’s role will focus on leading the company’s go-to-market strategy and operations, including consulting, sales, and managing the partner ecosystem.

She will also collaborate with teams across Google to assist Singaporean organisations in utilising enterprise-grade cloud AI solutions.

Reporting to Mark Micallef, the Managing Director of Southeast Asia for Google Cloud, Sia brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

Her career spans over three decades in diverse business and software technology leadership roles across Asia, with previous positions at Autodesk, Oracle, Salesforce, and SAP.

Sia’s track record includes leading strategic business engagements and forming partnerships with various sectors such as financial services, telecommunications, retail, and manufacturing.

In 2014, she played a pivotal role in establishing the human capital consulting company Presence of IT, which was later acquired by Deloitte in 2019.

Google Cloud had recently launched data residency for its generative AI capabilities in Singapore, allowing local organisations to store data from AI applications within the country.

This move aligns with Google Cloud’s collaboration with Singapore’s Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT) in piloting a sovereign cloud solution to address defense and security challenges.
