Gemini, an American crypto exchange founded by twins Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, has announced the appointment of Saad Ahmed as the new Head of Asia Pacific (APAC). The former APAC chief Jeremy Ng left the company back in December 2021.
In his new role, Saad will be expanding Gemini‘s presence in APAC, focusing on growing the user base and introducing the company’s range of products and services to various institutions. He will also be responsible for overseeing the profitability and growth within the region.
Ahmed’s extensive career, spanning over two decades, is marked by his expertise in scaling technology-driven businesses in the APAC area. He has been instrumental in the regional growth of major companies like Uber and Grab. Notably, Ahmed was a founding member of Uber’s team in India and later led their Business Development in Southeast Asia.
In June last year, Gemini had announced that the firm planned to increase its headcount to over 100 in Singapore over the next 12 months while also establishing an engineering base in India.
Despite these expansion plans, the Monetary Authority of Singapore has yet to issue Gemini the necessary approvals to operate in the island-state.
