Airwallex, a global payments and financial platform, has announced several new appointments to its leadership team as well as expansion plans for its operations in the United States.
The company has appointed Jason Gottlieb as VP, Financial Partnerships, Hugo Buret as Global Head of Strategic Partnerships, and Ankur Goel as Global Head of Revenue Operations to its Americas headquarters in San Francisco.
Gottlieb, with a background in financial partnerships at Stripe and Amazon, is set to lead Airwallex’s global efforts in enhancing collaborations with financial institutions.
Meanwhile, Buret, coming from Stripe where he managed global strategic and product partnerships, will spearhead the company’s initiatives to forge and cultivate growth-driving relationships. Both Gottlieb and Buret will be reporting to Airwallex’s CEO and Co-Founder, Jack Zhang.
Goel, previously at Confluent and with experience at LinkedIn and McKinsey & Company, will focus on advancing Airwallex’s growth and revenue objectives globally. He will be reporting to Kai Wu, Chief Revenue Officer.
The move follows a period of major growth for Airwallex in the Americas as the company reported a 460 percent increase in revenue and over a 1,000 percent surge in transaction volume year-over-year.
In response to this momentum, Airwallex revealed plans to establish new offices in New York and Austin, aiming to tap into the talent pools and commercial demand in these areas.
Airwallex had also shared that it has plans for an initial public offering (IPO) in the next two years.
“We kicked off 2024 with continued confidence and a commitment to growing the Airwallex business in the Americas.
The experience that Jason, Hugo, and Ankur bring in leading high-growth teams will be critical as we advance our vision of empowering businesses of all sizes to grow without borders.”
said Zhang.
“Despite the challenging macroeconomic environment, we see continued demand for financial tools that make it faster and simpler to operate in a borderless economy.
We finished 2023 with impressive growth in the US, and expect that trend to continue in 2024. We’re deepening our presence in the cities and talent pools that can help us grow our team alongside our rapidly scaling business.”
said Ravi Adusumilli, EGM Americas, at Airwallex.
