Managing Partner Khailee Ng says 500 Global remains committed to Southeast Asia despite reports of a shift away from dedicated regional funds.
Khailee, who is also a Board Member at 500 Global, addressed questions about whether the venture capital firm was winding down its Southeast Asia-focused funds.
He and Managing Partner Vishal Harnal continue to lead their teams and investment practice after working in the sector for more than a decade.
500 Global is managing its existing funds through their full life cycles. This includes securing exits and helping portfolio companies expand into the US and other international markets.
The firm is also exploring new investment mandates, although Khailee did not confirm whether it plans to raise another fund dedicated solely to Southeast Asia.
His comments follow an earlier report that future investments in the region could instead be made through 500 Global’s global funds.
Existing regional vehicles were expected to deploy their remaining capital while supporting companies already in their portfolios.
The firm could also continue making selected investments, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).

Khailee said in a LinkedIn post.
“We are building upon many new initiatives in AI and globalisation, like the Silicon Valley Takeover and AI Takeover series, which we believe will invigorate the market and create bridges for new capital.”
