Through this expanded collaboration, financial institutions can access four Mastercard capabilities directly within the Backbase Banking OS.
Dynamic Yield supports personalisation across digital banking journeys, while Test & Learn helps assess the commercial impact of product, pricing and campaign changes.
“Banks are moving from AI experimentation to AI execution and the infrastructure underneath that shift matters enormously,” said Selin Bahadirli, Executive Vice President, Services, EEMEA at Mastercard.
“This is how agentic banking moves from proof of concept to production.”
Ricardo Ribelles, VP Collaborations and Alliances at Backbase, said the deepened collaboration goes beyond technology integration.
He added that it brings together two ecosystems, giving banks a faster, more trusted path from AI experimentation to real business outcomes.
Both companies frame the collaboration around agentic AI.
In this model, trusted AI systems act on behalf of customers within defined consent parameters.
The deal builds on Mastercard’s own agentic push.
This includes a live Agent Pay transaction it demonstrated with Majid Al Futtaim in the UAE in late 2025.
It also includes the Mastercard Agent Suite, introduced in January 2026 to help enterprises build secure, AI-powered payment experiences.
The news also follows Backbase’s own moves to deepen its agentic banking capabilities, including its acquisition of Kasisto in June 2026, an agentic AI platform used by lenders such as J.P. Morgan and Standard Chartered.
