Airwallex has extended its partnership with McLaren Racing and will become the Official AI Finance Partner of the McLaren Mastercard Formula 1 Team from January 2027.
The expanded agreement builds on a relationship established in February 2024, when Airwallex began supporting McLaren’s global financial operations through its cross-border payment and treasury management technology.
Under the renewed partnership, both companies plan to explore ways to use technology to improve financial operations and efficiency.
Airwallex will also continue supporting McLaren’s digital partner merchandise platform, allowing it to accept customer payments through various global and local payment methods.
As part of the agreement, Airwallex branding will appear on the sleeves of the team’s uniforms from 2027. Its logo will remain on both Formula 1 cars and the drivers’ overalls.
Airwallex expands its focus on AI-driven finance
The announcement follows Airwallex’s US$320 million Series H funding round in June 2026, which valued the company at US$11 billion.
Airwallex plans to use the funding to develop AI-based financial software, including T:0, a platform designed to automate business finance functions such as bookkeeping, forecasting, tax and compliance.
The company is also developing Airi, a digital wallet intended to support payments delegated to AI agents, spending controls and multi-currency balances.
Laura Bowden, Chief Financial Officer at McLaren Racing, said:

“Partnering closely with Airwallex demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in faster, more efficient technology. Airwallex is our first Official AI Finance Partner and we’re confident in their ability to help us run our financial operations faster and more efficiently.”
Pranav Sood, Chief Financial Officer at Airwallex, said the expanded agreement reflects the companies’ existing relationship and Airwallex’s wider focus on AI-powered financial services.

“Over the past three seasons, we’ve shown how smarter financial infrastructure and AI-native technology can help global organisations move faster and operate with greater control across borders.”
The partnership has supported McLaren’s international financial operations since 2024, including payments to suppliers across different markets.
