Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) has selected Databricks’ Data Intelligence Platform to centralise its data and AI assets.
This move is part of its broader digital transformation efforts, including an upgrade to its core banking system.
With over 17 million customers and 1.5 billion monthly transactions, SCB will use the Databricks platform, built on Microsoft Azure, to enhance its data management and personalised banking services.
The platform’s open lakehouse architecture will provide SCB with a unified foundation for data governance and AI model deployment.
SCB expects the platform to improve customer services through features such as AI-powered customer 360, which provides a consolidated view of customer needs across all channels, and AI-driven credit scoring for instant loan approvals.
The bank has reported a two-fold increase in approval rates for digital lending products after implementing these AI-driven processes.
SCB also plans to train 1,800 employees later this month in data analytics and AI.
The training is part of a collaboration between Databricks’ Data and AI Academy and SCB’s IT Academy, with staff receiving Databricks accreditations and certifications upon completion.
“In line with our “Digital Bank with Human Touch” strategy, which aims to ensure the success of our bank-wide digital transformation and drive growth while enhancing customer experiences, we recognise that enabling our staff with the necessary skills is essential.
We are excited to partner with Databricks to deliver large-scale data and AI training for our employees,”
said Orapong Thien-Ngern, President and Chief Technology Officer, SCB.
“We are pleased that SCB has selected the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform for its strategic digital transformation.
Together, Databricks and SCB will deliver more value to all of SCB’s customers with real-time insights to meet their banking needs,”
said Cecily Ng, Vice President and General Manager of ASEAN and Greater China, Databricks.
