London-based issuer processor Thredd, which has in the past year announced a slew of new partners in the Asia Pacific region including Southeast Asian fintech BigPay and Australian workflow and spend management platform Paytron while deepening relationships with existing clients like Singapore’s Nium, will be sharing its payments expertise at Singapore Fintech Festival (SFF) 2024 from November 6 to 8.
SFF is the annual global gathering of policymakers, regulators, central bankers, fintechs, technologists, investors and the finance industry to explore the intersections of cutting-edge financial solutions, evolving regulatory landscapes, and the latest technological innovations.
Thredd believes its ability to weave payments magic for the world’s most ambitious businesses, while navigating tokenisation, cross-border and B2B payments in a highly-regulated world and offering fraud and scam protection, puts it in pole position to leverage the global digital wallet phenomenon.
In June this year, Thredd, which already supports global card issuing through both Mastercard and Visa, announced its partnership with Discover Global Network, giving Thredd clients access to Discover’s network of over 305 million cardholders and more than 70 million merchant locations globally while adding a virtual card issuance capabilities via Diners Club International.
Global digital wallet payments are expected to reach US$19.6 trillion by 2027, an 81% increase from current levels. And nowhere is that more prominent than APAC, which boasts adoption rates of 70% to over 80%, the highest globally.
In addition, Thredd’s expertise as a partner for providing explainable AI (xAI)-empowered and scalable card issuing processing, payments processing, cross-border payments solutions, are essential to two key insights that frame 2025 conversations at SFF: Roadmap for AI & Quantum and Next-gen Transactions.
In a November 7 session at SFF’s Technology Stage entitled Supercharging instrument authorisations with xAI, Thredd’s Global Chief Technology Officer Edwin Poot will share how xAI in real time issuer processing ensures transparency and trust by providing clear, understandable reasons for AI-driven decisions such as fraud detection, credit adjustments, and transaction approval while meeting regulatory requirements, enhancing customer trust, and ensuring fairness by mitigating bias in AI models.
Also on November 7, over at the FutureMatters Stage, Thredd Chief Executive Officer Jim McCarthy will be part of the panel titled Protecting consumers: The role of tech in secure payment systems, discussing how tech-enabled innovations ensure the safety of the myriad payment options available to customers today such as cards and e-wallets, while policies and next-gen compliance systems converge to ensure payment systems are not only secure, but also resilient and reliable.
