OCBC has added platinum and palladium trading to its mobile app as it expands access to precious metals for retail investors.
Customers can invest in either metal from 0.01 ounces. Based on prices on 7 August 2026, this was about S$23 for platinum and S$18 for palladium.
The new options build on OCBC’s existing digital gold and silver offering, which has been available to retail customers since October 2021.
Platinum is widely used in automotive manufacturing, hydrogen fuel cells and other industrial applications, while palladium is used in vehicle emissions-control systems.
Their prices can therefore move differently from gold and silver, reflecting industrial demand and concentrated global supply.
OCBC Group Research expects platinum and palladium spot prices to exceed US$2,000 and US$1,500 respectively by the first half of 2027.
They stood at US$1,833 and US$1,389 at the end of June 2026.

Tan Siew Lee, Head of Group Wealth Management, OCBC, said,
“By combining fractional investment with a seamless digital experience, we have lowered the precious metals investment barrier to entry for all our customers. It is nonetheless important to recognise that platinum and palladium are high-beta metals.
Investors who are willing to tolerate higher volatility may find in them a unique way to gain exposure to themes that sit at the intersection of industrial activity, resource scarcity, and the evolving global energy transition.”
The number of customers investing in gold and silver through OCBC’s platform rose 2.5 times year-on-year in 2025, while demand remained resilient in 2026 despite periods of volatility and price corrections.
