Jumio has brought its selfie-based identity verification service to Asia Pacific.
The rollout of selfie.DONE follows earlier launches in Latin America and North America.
It allows enrolled trusted users to complete future identity checks with a selfie instead of submitting an identification document again.
Anyone whom the system cannot recognise confidently or identifies as a potential risk must complete the full verification process.
According to Jumio, previous deployments have shown that selfie.DONE can increase verification completion rates by 20%, with up to 60% of users completing checks without submitting documents.
The service draws on the company’s consent-based global identity graph, which contains more than 75 million legitimate and fraudulent identities and grows by approximately 85,000 identities each day.
Each check contributes information to the network and includes a new risk assessment.
The service is available to businesses including financial services firms, cryptocurrency exchanges, gaming companies and sharing economy platforms.

“With the region’s dynamic, mobile-first economy, the demand for frictionless, high-assurance onboarding has never been higher.
By introducing selfie.DONE to the region, we’re helping organisations shift from point-in-time verification to a model of continuous, contextual, and connected identity intelligence, enabling them to instantly recognise trusted users and turn identity verification from a friction point into a competitive advantage.”
said Bala Kumar, President and Chief Product and Technology Officer at Jumio.
