Singapore Fintech Festival 2018 is just two months away, and this year, the multi-day fintech event promises to be even bigger, better and jammed packed with even more exciting activities.
In 2017, the Singapore Fintech Festival was attended by more than 30,000 participants from 100 countries including 160 global leaders from central banks and regulatory agencies, financial institutions, venture capital (VC) firms, and fintech companies speaking on 4 separate stages at the fintech conference.
The 2018 edition of the Singapore Fintech Festival conference, from November 12 to 16, 2018, will see expanded themes, more breadth in dialogues and discussions, as well as inclusion of the most current issues in fintech. Key topics covered will include artificial intelligence (AI) in finance, the future of banking, insurtech, market infrastructure, financial inclusion, the future of money, fintech opportunities in ASEAN, cybersecurity, techrisk and regtech, and more.
“The Singapore Fintech Festival has grown in scale and scope over the past two editions, and has contributed to the growth of the fintech ecosystem in Singapore and the region,” said Sopnendu Mohanty, chief fintech officer at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). “We look forward to welcoming fintech players and stakeholders from all over the world to Singapore, and to work with them to create new value and promote financial inclusion through innovation, digitalization, and connectivity.”
This year again, the week-long Singapore Fintech Festival is organized by MAS in partnership with The Association of Banks in Singapore and in collaboration with SingEx Holdings.
Singapore Fintech Festival 2018: what to expect
The Singapore Fintech Festival 2018 will feature a series of events including the Fintech Conference and Exhibition, the Global Fintech Hackcelerator Demo Day, the AI in Finance Summit, the Fintech Awards, the Innovation Lab Crawl, workshops, an expanded Investor Summit comprising of the Fintech Deal Day, and a new component, Meet ASEAN’s Talents and Champions (MATCH).
This year’s Global Fintech Hackcelerator will focus on four problem areas:
- Financial Inclusion: Solutions which empower consumers and businesses to gain access to financial services.
- Regtech and Suptech: Solutions to ensure compliance of regulatory requirements, when financial institutions engage in corporate activities.
- Insurtech: Solutions to help financial institutions transform and shape the future state of insurance.
- General: Solutions which enable financial institutions to enhance customer experience or increase their efficiency.
The Hackcelerator Demo Day will take place on November 12, 2018.
The Fintech Conference and Exhibition, from November 12 to 14, 2018, will see an expanded range of topics with more keynote sessions and discussions on current issues in fintech. The exhibition will have an ASEAN Zone to showcase the Fintech Awards finalists and ASEAN Pitchfest winners.
On November 13 and 14, 2018, the AI Finance Summit will focus on utilizing AI in finance to drive global progress and four main areas comprising practitioner, academic, government and financier.
The Fintech Investor Summit, on November 14, 2018, will expand to include the MATCH event in addition to an upgraded Fintech Deal Day.
MATCH will encompass top ASEAN startups and growth enterprises across all sectors and feature an enterprise financing component. The conference will feature keynote presentations and leadership dialogues by notable investors covering topics such as the financing, enterprise value creation, exit opportunities and many more, with an ASEAN focus. It will also feature dedicated deal-making segments for investors and enterprises to connect and network.
Fintech Deal Day will focus on enhancing access to funding for startups with a presence in Singapore and improving the quality and quantity of fintech investment deals in Singapore.
On November 14, 2018, the Fintech Awards, comprising the MAS Fintech Awards and ABS Global Fintech Award, will recognize innovative fintech solutions that have been implemented by fintech companies, financial institutions and tech companies.
Finally, the Innovation Lab Crawl, on November 15 and 16, 2018, will allow participants to visit innovation labs across Singapore, offering a good opportunity to network with startups and key innovation executives.
