Akulaku-Backed Bank Neo Commerce Witnessed Strong Growth in 2021

Bank Neo Commerce (BNC), an Indonesian digital bank that is a subsidiary local Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) player Akulaku, has witnessed strong growth last year.

Previously known as Bank Yudha Bhakti, the neobank launched its services back in March 2021.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, BNC reported that it daily active users (DAU) reached 1.8 million, an increase of 112% compared to the third quarter. Meanwhile, its Monthly active users (MAU) reached 4.83 million, an increase of 27% compared to the previous quarter.

BNC’s userbase had also increased to 13.3 million customers as of 2021 year end.

Additionally, the total number of transactions was recorded at more than 96.86 million, an increase of 300% compared to the third quarter of 23.93 million transactions.

The neobank’s total transaction value in the fourth quarter was Rp 36.83 trillion (US$ 2.54 billion).

Since its launch in March 2021, neobank has made continuous innovation, both in terms of products, features, services, and also to improve its digital security.

“Through the improvement of the database architecture, BNC has succeeded in increasing the storage capacity of the BNC system and its concurrency capabilities.

 

This allows the neobank application to operate optimally to support dozens of millions of user accounts and millions of transactions per day, with a transaction success rate of more than 99.99%,”

Meanwhile, BNC aims to introduce more wealth management products to meet the investment needs of its users.

The bank will also be providing an interactive communication platform in its app by creating investment and financial management content for wealth management customers.

BNC will also launch digital lending or digital credit features that will be available in its app by the first quarter of 2022, targeting 30% of its existing user base.
