A technical failure involving a third-party vendor knocked out key YouTrip services in Singapore and Thailand for several hours on 19 October.
The outage disrupted payments, wallet top-ups and currency exchange across both markets, according to The Straits Times.
YouTrip confirmed at about 6.45pm that all services had returned to normal.
The company continues to monitor the vendor’s system and has assured customers that their funds and accounts remain safe.
The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is following up on the incident and has required YouTrip to investigate its cause and address any vulnerabilities.
The regulator described the outage as significant and will consider it as part of its ongoing supervision of the company.
MAS also expects payment service providers regulated under the Payment Services Act to maintain reliable IT systems and minimise customer disruption.
Most YouTrip Services Were Unavailable During the Outage
At noon, YouTrip’s status tracker showed that only four of its 23 services in Singapore were operational.
These included login, registration, viewing card details and eSIM services.
Only three of 14 services remained available in Thailand.
The exact start of the outage remains unclear, although users reported transaction problems as early as 8.40am.
Most services were restored by around 3.40pm, but card transactions, payment authentication and ATM withdrawals continued to experience intermittent issues.
By approximately 5.10pm, YouTrip’s status tracker listed all affected services as operational.
