Cloudflare has launched a wallet and identity system to help AI agents conduct online transactions securely.
Cloudflare Wallets and cloudflare.pay allow autonomous software programs to make purchases using stablecoins while operating within spending limits set by their users.
The launch targets a key challenge in agentic commerce. Merchants often cannot verify whether an AI agent visiting their platform is authorised by a customer or controlled by a malicious actor.
Businesses built existing bot detection tools to handle automated traffic rather than AI agents that act on behalf of people and businesses.
Cloudflare said its accounts will receive unique web addresses that can serve as stable identifiers. Users will also be able to link specific AI agents to their identities, allowing businesses to verify who authorised each request.
Cloudflare Wallets will include two components. An Account Wallet will act as a central balance for receiving, holding, and managing stablecoins.
Users can then assign Virtual Wallets to individual AI agents, allowing them to make online payments.
Virtual Wallets will include built-in controls that let users set spending limits, approve specific merchants, and define maximum transaction sizes.
These restrictions prevent agents from exceeding their authorised payment boundaries.
Cloudflare said its wallets and cloudflare.pay service, alongside its Monetization Gateway, will support a payment ecosystem for agent-driven commerce by connecting buyers, sellers, and AI agents.

“The Internet is shifting from human-driven browsing to agent-driven commerce, and the infrastructure needs to keep up,”
said Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare.
Prince said the new tools give AI agents a verifiable connection to the people or organisations that control them, helping establish trust and accountability for online transactions.
