Mastercard has launched Mastercard Global Money Platform with BVNK, the stablecoin infrastructure firm it acquired in August 2026.
The platform gives banks, fintechs and enterprises a single API to hold, convert, pay out and spend both fiat currencies and stablecoins, and is the first major integration of the two companies’ capabilities since the deal closed.
Businesses can embed multi-currency accounts, real-time conversion, stablecoin-linked cards and local bank payouts into their own products under their own brand.
They can also use the platform to run their own treasury, payments and settlement.
Customers can start with the features they need and add more as they become available. According to the companies, this reduces the need to integrate a separate provider for each step of moving money.
Payments firm Nuvei and card issuing platform Marqeta are among the first to integrate the platform, alongside Ontop, Beem and Almond FinTech.
How the Mastercard global money account works
At the core of the platform is the global money account, which holds fiat and stablecoins side by side and converts between them through a single API. It comes with configurable rewards and other account features.
Fintechs and technology platforms can embed the account to give their own customers one place to hold, convert and pay out earnings.
The companies point to a manufacturer that receives payments in several currencies and pays suppliers abroad.
Today that typically means separate accounts, vendors and pre-funded balances in each market, which ties up working capital. The platform brings liquidity management, conversion, receivables and payouts into one place.
Payouts through Mastercard Move and card spending
The platform plugs into Mastercard Move, the company’s money movement portfolio, which reaches more than 17 billion endpoints.
Users can draw on stablecoin balances to send local currency payments directly into recipients’ bank accounts.
Mastercard expects that payout coverage to expand to more than 40 currencies across over 200 countries and territories in 2027.
Customers can spend their stablecoin balances across Mastercard’s acceptance network of hundreds of millions of merchant locations. Card issuing is available in more than 130 countries.

“Global Money Platform will become the single infrastructure layer not just for stablecoins, but for every form of money,”
said Chris Harmse, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer, BVNK.

“We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money,”
said Raj Dhamodharan, Executive Vice President, Blockchain and Digital Assets, Mastercard.
“This is an important step in bringing our multi-money strategy to life and enabling the next generation of programmable and agentic commerce.”
The companies plan to add support for agentic commerce and other regulated forms of money, including tokenised deposits.
