Appian, a software company that automates business processes, and Swiss Re have expanded their partnership to streamline the life insurance underwriting process and enhance the productivity of underwriters.
The Connected Underwriting Life Workbench platform by Appian, which was successfully launched in North America last year, will now be available in select countries in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
This Appian platform, integrated with Swiss Re’s automated underwriting solution, Magnum, aims to simplify the traditionally cumbersome underwriting systems.
The traditional systems often require underwriters to navigate multiple platforms for risk analysis, case management, and information updates.
The workbench addresses this by offering a single login system, enabling underwriters to manage their tasks more efficiently.
By automating workload assignments and providing comprehensive case data from multiple sources, the workbench facilitates informed decision-making.
It also expedites policy issuance through intelligent automation and integration of third-party data sources, reducing manual errors and wait times.
This improvement enhances client satisfaction and aims to attract new talent.
Furthermore, the platform utilises AI for comprehensive policy analysis, enhancing business performance and meeting service-level agreements with insurance partners.

“Underwriters often find themselves juggling information scattered across email inboxes, outdated systems, and lengthy documents. This is especially true for life underwriters, for whom administrative burden can significantly slow down their ability to accurately assess risk in a timely manner.
That’s why Appian has partnered with Swiss Re Reinsurance Solutions to introduce Connected Underwriting Life Workbench to improve operational efficiency and the underwriter and customer experience for life insurers.”
