RMIT Online Offers Two New Blockchain Coursesby Company Announcement August 31, 2018
After the successful launch of Australia’s first blockchain university short course, Developing Blockchain Strategy, RMIT Online announced the launch of two additional blockchain courses.
This courses will provide students with a comprehensive overview of the technology, including the understanding of how to design blockchain infrastructure, to further their skills and learn how to think strategically about implementing a blockchain solution into the core of their businesses.
Accenture identified a skills gap in qualified blockchain professionals, prompting the partnership with RMIT Online to add Designing Blockchain Solutions (commences 8 October) and Developing Blockchain Applications (commences 21 January) to its robust program offerings.
The courses are part of RMIT Online’s short course portfolio comprising industry-endorsed short courses that aim to bridge important skills gaps among executives, professionals and those looking to future-proof their careers in a more accessible manner.
Designing Blockchain Solutions will support students ‒ from managers, entrepreneurs and consultants to tech enthusiasts and software developers ‒ to develop an understanding of distributed ledger technologies infrastructure on a more technical level without needing to have programming skills. Various blockchain platforms, including Ethereum and those within the Hyperledger project (Sawtooth, Fabric and Composer), will be explored.
The announcement of the two courses follows the unveiling of a recent initiative in partnership with digital credentialing platform, Credly, that gives students blockchain-enabled digital credentials.
Global investment in blockchain is expected to surpass $2 billion by 2021, showcasing how quickly the technology has moved from its research and development phase to real world, market applications. RMIT’s industry-relevant partnerships represent its continued commitment to remaining at the forefront of helping students, professionals, and employers realise the potential of blockchain to fill gaps in industry.

Courses run from six weeks and are fully credentialed by RMIT University. Interested students should have a basic understanding of how distributed ledger technology works.
