The first milestone on the F10 Hackathon world tour has been accomplished, and it was a great success.
Over 90 participants developed 23 prototypes within 48 hours in the modernly equipped Singapore Management University SMU, which was transformed into the temporary «Home of FinTech» for the weekend. The engagement of the participants, Hackathon partners and the Asian FinTech ecosystem was spectacular.
The F10 team is delighted to announce the success of the first F10 FinTech Hackathon from the 21st to the 23rd of September in Singapore. A total of 48 hours of ideation and programming were very well used by over 90 passionate and curious participants. These people were willing to collaborate with diverse teams of different backgrounds and nationalities to bring about their opinions and to critically examine approaches as well as proposals for solutions to actual problems of the worldwide finance industry.
This action made it possible to achieve impressive results within the limited timeframe. The three Hackathon platinum sponsors SIX, Julius Baer and Zuhlke each provided the participants with a challenge to solve current and future customer problems, which was very well appreciated by the highly motivated crowd eager to learn. Last but not least, F10 also raised a challenge related to the scope of Financial Infrastructure on Blockchain.
The participants were fully supported by five motivated mentors from around the world, with various backgrounds and a deep understanding of FinTech. Based on their experience, they were able to push participants even further and inspire individuals as well as the teams to attain a different level together with the F10 team. The input sessions provided by the F10 Startup Coaches helped the participants to increase their business knowledge and to structure their ideas.
After the 48 hours with little sleep, a good amount of coffee capsules, numerous meals and even more Coke and energy drinks, the registered teams were invited to pitch in front of a jury consisting of important industry leaders to whom they usually would not have access.
The jurors selected eight winners – one for each challenge, the overall Hackathon winners as well as the F10 golden ticket winner who automatically qualifies for the Accelerator P2 «Prototype to Product» program final for next year.

«The quality of prototypes developed in Singapore was remarkable, and the collaboration within the FinTech ecosystem outstanding. We are overwhelmed by the success of our first F10 FinTech Hackathon in Asia, and we are glad to share the results with our sponsors.
We are sure we will hear more from the teams and individual participants and will support them to further developing their prototypes in real FinTech Products which will shape the future finance. Besides that our team is already looking forward and about to prepare for our next stop in Vienna»,
says Thomas Landis, Head of F10.
